The Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Mk1 is one of the most iconic and recognizable versions of the Golf.
Introduced in 1979, the Golf Cabriolet Mk1 was developed in collaboration with Karmann, a historic German coachbuilder. Unlike many convertibles of the time, it had a fully retractable canvas top and, more importantly, the famous fixed central roll-bar, nicknamed the "basket handle."
This feature not only ensured greater safety, but also made the convertible instantly recognizable. An interesting fact: while the "closed" Golf Mk1 went out of production in the early 1980s, the Cabriolet Mk1 continued until 1993, coexisting with the Golf Mk2 and Mk3.
