Sales information
Browsing through the extensive documentation of this beautiful SS 1 Tourer 2. 5 Litre truly feels like stepping back in time. Typed and handwritten letters from previous owners provide a good glimpse into its history. Correspondence with Jaguar, where employees of the Sales Department apparently still had plenty of time to answer customer questions in detail in writing, is also included. Yellowed paperwork, old English registrations, and so on. Just perusing all of this at your leisure is a treat in itself. Ultimately, it's all about the car, that much is clear. But when a perfect pre-war car like this SS Tourer comes with good documentation, that's a huge added bonus.
According to the Jaguar Heritage Archive, the SS was registered to Miss C. Eyre by dealer Henlys in London on July 1, 1936. She chose the cream color with a green leather interior, which was later changed to maroon with a dark red interior during the restoration. Seven years ago, the car was extensively restored by renowned SS specialist David Davenport from England. No expense was spared, and this is still clearly visible today. It is a feast for the eyes to discover the overall quality and originality down to the smallest detail.
Now that the car has been part of one of the largest SS and Jaguar collections for quite some time, the owner believes it's time to say goodbye to some of his cars, including this Tourer. This presents an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts of the illustrious marque to acquire a highly manageable, reliable, practical, and sublime-looking SS.
