1973 - Fiat 124 Spider Abarth Rally Gr. 4 Chassis n° 124CSA0063440 Belgian registration document Vehicle sold without technical inspection View manual: A superbly prepared 124 Abarth Rally in Gr. 4, ideal for the Tour de Corse! In the early 1970s, Fiat made a full commitment to competition with the 124 Abarth Rally, a muscular version of the standard Spider, featuring completely revised running gear, fiber bodywork, a 5-speed gearbox, and a 1, 736 cm3 engine tuned to 170 bhp... Once the statutory 1, 000 examples had been built, the 124 Spider in Abarth version was homologated in Gr. 2 and was Fiat's rally showcase during the 1973 season, where it won a World Championship. Its moment of glory came in 1975, in Gr. 4, when Maurizio Verini won the European Rally Championship at the wheel of the latest version, a 16-valve. Our example was prepared in the early 2010s from a 124 Spider Abarth stradale by the Italian company Perosino Special Cars, which specializes in the conversion and development of Lancia Delta Gr. A, Delta S4, Stratos, Fiat 124 Abarth and all Lancia Group models. The body was stripped down to bare metal, and the whole unit was prepared, like the mechanical components, to the original specifications of the Gr. 4, while respecting the evolutions of the safety components, notably the roll cage and fuel tank. This meticulous preparation enabled the car to be fitted with a 200hp engine, and to obtain a Historic Technical Passport (hill-climbing category) from the Italian Federation (now out of date), as well as an additional rear hood to accommodate a spare wheel, and 8 8-inch wheels fitted with racing tires (to be collected at the end of the sale in Belgium). The car was acquired in 2012 by its current owner, a Belgian entrepreneur and gentleman driver, whose family business has been linked to Fiat and Abarth since the 1970s. He used it on numerous occasions, with great success and pleasure, to preserve his authentic 124 Rally Gr. 4 Usine (sold by us at the Tour Auto 2025 Official Sale). It's now waiting for its next driver, who will be able to line up at its wheel in the finest events of its kind, including the Tour de Corse, where it's sure to be formidable!
