Description
Alongside the legendary Porsche 911, the German brand introduced the Porsche 912 in 1965. The appearance of this sports car is the same as that of the 911, but in terms of equipment, the 912 was somewhat simpler. The Porsche 912 was equipped with a four-cylinder 1600 engine and was priced considerably lower than the 911. This made the 912 an attractive and successful Porsche, which was also available in an open Targa version, including this stunning Porsche 912 Targa produced in 1968. This car is particularly unique in several respects.
This magnificent Porsche 912 Targa Short Wheel Base was originally delivered in Spring Valley, California. The original color was Tangerine Red, but it was repainted in the stunning color Canary Yellow during a thorough restoration. The interior has been left completely original and is in uniquely beautiful condition. This car was owned by a single owner from 1971 to 2023, who visibly took excellent care of it. The American registration documents from 1971 are still present with this beautiful Porsche 912, as are the California license plates.
This Porsche 912 was restored some time ago and is in almost perfect condition. The beautiful Canary Yellow body color has a deep shine and the paintwork is in very good condition. The various chrome and trim parts are also in very good and shiny condition. This also applies to the various rubber parts and finishes. The body panels fit together well and the doors (as well as the hood and trunk lid) close solidly and securely. The stunning and original Fuchs rims look perfect on this Porsche 912 Targa. The removable Targa roof is also in very good condition.
The interior of the Porsche is still in very good and original condition. The black faux leather interior is stunning to look at and the seats are comfortable and well-fitting. The dashboard (with brushed aluminum inlay) is likewise in very good condition and all instruments work properly. The car is equipped with a perfectly matching (and working) Blue Dot Blaupunkt radio, headrests, and original door bags. Everything is still in very good and well-maintained condition. The original large steering wheel is also original and feels firm in the hands.
Under the hood, we see a very well-maintained engine bay. It is clearly visible that this car has been maintained with great love and care. The 1582 cc four-cylinder boxer engine runs very smoothly and quietly, providing sufficient power for both sporty and comfortable driving. The manual gearbox has four gears and shifts particularly smoothly and precisely. The car is equipped with disc brakes front and rear, and the brakes feel firm and solid. While driving, it is also very noticeable that we are dealing here with a very well-maintained Porsche 912 Targa in very unique and magnificent condition.
