In February 1937, the Type 320 was introduced as the successor to the Type 290.
The Type 320 was ideally suited as a touring car. Its outstanding qualities included ample space, comfort, and comparatively effortless and energy-saving handling.
Thus, thanks to its excellent road handling, the stately car was able to achieve high travel speeds for the time.
In the autumn of 1938, the engine was enlarged to 3. 4 liters and the model was additionally equipped with the optional ZF long-range gear. This ensured lower engine speeds at sustained high speeds, which both guaranteed the engine's longevity and reduced fuel consumption.
The Mercedes 320 was perfectly suited to the ever-expanding motorway network.
The car, internally designated W142, was offered in numerous body variants, with the Cabriolet A being arguably the most perfectly formed version.
Our car is fully restored and has only been driven 184 km since then.
The placement of the spare wheels on the front fenders makes this Cabriolet A particularly beautiful and elegant.
