1926 AC Royal – Restoration Project with Extensive History
We are pleased to offer this charming and unusual 1926 AC Royal six-cylinder, recently reacquired from a private owner. The car was originally part of a collection we purchased in Africa around 10 years ago and was subsequently sold to its most recent keeper, who has sadly passed away.
This example benefits from a comprehensive bodywork restoration carried out many years ago, with photographic documentation on file. The body remains in very good condition throughout—an important and often costly aspect already addressed.
Under the previous owners journey the transaxle was overhauled as well as all other components including leaf springs, brake system, ignition and other electricals etc even though the car has seen bare minimal use it the restoration work dates from 35 years ago to the current day. There are small signs of this including small marks and blemishes on paintwork
The car now requires a full retrim, and the engine is currently disassembled. We are informed this was due to a head gasket replacement, and the correct replacement gasket is included with the vehicle. The engine has been left apart to allow prospective buyers to inspect its condition, which shows good cylinder head and bore health. Supporting invoices indicate significant engine work completed in 2009.
Accompanying the car are two substantial history files dating back to the 1980s, including correspondence from AC Cars.
Also included are a copy of the South African title and documentation confirming taxes were paid on import in 2015.
This is an ideal project for an enthusiast looking to return a rare and characterful vintage car to the road, with strong potential for participation in Vintage Sports-Car Club (VSCC) events.
