General description
Offered in excellent condition, this rare Triumph TR2 “Long Door” from 1954 stands as one of the more sought-after and historically significant variants of the first-generation TR sports cars produced by Triumph Motor Company.
The TR2 model, officially unveiled to the public at the Geneva Motor Show 1953, marked the start of the famous Triumph sport roadster family. It was designed to compete with European sports cars of the era, offering spirited performance, robust mechanics and a competitive price.
The “Long Door” version, produced in the early TR2 series from 1953 to 1954, is now particularly sought after by collectors. The name derives from the distinctive door configuration that drops lower along the bodywork than in later models, reaching down to the lower edge of the bodywork. This construction solution was abandoned after a few thousand units were made, making “Long Door” examples rarer and more distinctive.
Overall, total TR2 production was around 8, 636 units, but only a relatively small portion belongs to the early Long Door series, characterised by specific details of the bodywork and construction. For this reason, these examples are today a highly sought-after variant in the international classic car scene.

Following the restoration, the car was presented to the technical committee for the issue of the Certificate of Historic Relevance (CRS) issued by Automotoclub Storico Italiano, an official recognition attesting to the vehicle’s authenticity and historical interest.
In 2014 the car was registered in Italy and since then has been regularly subjected to the mandatory periodic inspections, from which the mileage progression can be reconstructed precisely.
Currently the odometer shows 7, 771 miles since the restoration was completed.
