There are loads of MG’s for sale, some at silly money, some needing hours of work and occasionally a drive away, incredible smart, well sorted gem like this one pops up, it’s not to be missed, its totally solid, no signs of ever being welded and its from the very last batch of production 899 cars from the end of manufacture, registered in August 1980.

1980 MG Midget 1500 in excellent all-round condition with a super solid underside that has never been welded, stunning bodywork, it’s running and driving absolutely spot on and is sold with new MOT and serviced ready to just jump in and enjoy, it benefits from free road tax, cheap classic car insurance and is exempt form needing an MOT, but will get one anyway..
It comes with serviceable soft top, a hood down cover, a full tonneau and in garage full car cover, we handle a few Midgets and we can assure you this one drive's superb, it’s the bigger engine 1500cc later model with the slightly higher suspension, more power and a much better ride than early models.
It starts very easily and runs very well, pulling strongly through all the gears, it stops well and is steady at speed with no wandering or vagueness of any kind, the steering wheel is rock steady, the slightest movement changing direction, no vagueness or wander and if you press the “go” pedal hard it’s quick at getting up to the speed limit (see video).
The smart interior has high back seats with headrests, good carpet set and clean door cards, it’s a sung place to get comfy for some motoring adventures. Both doors shut, no lifting or pushing required, they sit sung into the opening and line up with the panels, the boot and bonnet open, click shut and lock, the windows wind down, the quarter light vents twist, the side lights, head lights, wiper, washers, horn, dash gauges, rev counter, mileometer all work correctly, it shows just over 39k miles recorded.
The paintwork is very presentable, there are a few tiny imperfections that will be found on VERY close inspection, it’s not immaculate, but it needs no work and will be well received wherever you pull up, the car has a deep shine and all the panels line up a treat.
It’s completely solid underneath, there are no signs of any welding repairs anywhere underneath, the sill’s, floor pans, jacking points, chassis legs are solid, we lift it up on the sills for the underside inspection (see the video) not many Midget owners dare do that.
Under the bonnet everything where it should be, no breathing from the oil filler cap and running sweetly (see video), the car has just had a service, with new oil, oil filter, spark plugs, HT leads, dissy cap, both track rod ends changed, all the nipples greased and the gearbox and rear diff oil levels checked, the coolant is clear with a good antifreeze mix and the brake fluid is clear, signs of other recent works including brake master cylinder, all the tyres are in good order with no slows or leaks, the car is spot on, any further inspection welcome.
We have the full logbook, the cars serial number ends in 28627 the last Midget ever made ends in 29526, its HPI clear, comes with an original owners handbook, a large selection of invoices, old MOT’s, tax discs and papers, mostly dated around the 90’s, plus the newly completed service sheet and fresh MOT ticket.
Draw out of your boring ISA, get out the picnic hamper and go and enjoy your hard-earned savings, you still have a car to sell if you want to cash in later and you will be making memories instead of a pittance of interest, always buy the best you can afford and your money is well invested.
There are loads of Midgets to pick from, you simply will not find another in this lovely condition that’s this well demonstrated, with everything shown to you before you leave the house, nothing hidden and nothing to hide, no one shows you more.

Local delivery within 20 miles of Carlisle is normally for free, further afield we can deliver to most of the UK, direct on our own transport, for roughly £1 per mile one way, please ask for a price.

All viewings are exclusively by timed APPOINTMENT ONLY, we do not have a showroom or display area, items may have to be brought from our secure storage to view and advance notice will be required.
