A fascinating Blue Train recreation built by U. K.-based specialists Racing Green
Built on a Mark VI chassis utilizing a Bentley straight eight-cylinder engine
Acquired by the current owner in 2020 and road registered in Germany
Driven approximately 1, 800 miles since the completion of its restoration

The legendary “Blue Train” is among the most celebrated Bentleys of the pre-war era and is closely associated with Woolf Barnato, then Chairman of Bentley Motors and a multiple winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His famous race against the French luxury train from Cannes to London in a Bentley Speed Six became part of motoring history. Yet it is not the feat itself that defines the car’s legacy, but rather its striking design: the streamlined fastback coachwork, executed by J. Gurney Nutting, remains one of the most distinctive interpretations of the Bentley Speed Six. The original car survives today as a significant piece in an equally significant collection, and likely will never be offered for sale, yet this doesn’t stop the desire of many collectors to have their own “Blue Train

Boasting a stellar reputation internationally for serciving and building Bentleys to a high standard, Racing Green Engineering built the example offered here, based on a Bentley Mark VI chassis and running gear. While several options were engine fitment were available, the most desirable was Bentley’s 5. 7-litre B80 straight-eight cylinder engine fitted with four SU carburetors, and it is this engine that is fitted to the car today. The car features hand-formed aluminum body panels in keeping with period construction methods. Reflecting exceptional quality, fit, and finish, crafting this Blue Train recreation was clearly a labor of love for the team at Racing Green Engineering. The interior is finely appointed, combining polished walnut woodwork with tobacco-coloured Connolly leather. In keeping with the spirit of the original, discreet compartments for glassware and decanters have been integrated.

Completed in 2018, this Blue Train recreation has only been driven approximately 1, 800 miles since. Originally commissioned for a collector in the US, the car was acquired by the current custodian via RM Sotheby’s in 2020 at which point it was imported and registered in his native Germany. In his care, the car has been regularly maintained and benefits from a recently renewed TÜV inspection (April 2026). Previous registration documents from the car’s time in the U. K. and the U. S. will accompany the sale.

Arguably one of Bentley’s most iconic cars, the original Blue Train may remain out of touch for many but this stunning recreation will allow its fortunate next owner the opportunity to step into the shoes of Woolf Barnato and experience what is undoubtably a stunning automobile, both inside and out.
