Body / Exterior:
The example presented here is an MG C GT from January 1969 in its original factory colour “Mineral Blue” (matching colour).
After a professional polish with an orbital polisher, a few micro-scratches were observed on the bonnet and rear deck lid, and a very light stone-chip on the front face.
A very slight misalignment of the doors was noted.
The front and rear chromed bumpers and their bumper stops are in excellent condition, properly aligned and free from dents, deformation or oxidation.
Only the rear right bumper shows a minor scratch.
The four 15’’ painted wire wheels are in very good condition, with no impact marks or deformation.
This car is equipped with chromed knock-offs and side “Union Jack” badges.
The four tires show 20% wear on the front and 40% on the rear.
This example also comes with its spare wheel (painted wire wheel), jack, knock-off key and original maul.
Among the notable exterior equipment and options on this model, we note the side “Union Jack” badges as well as the four 15’’ painted wire wheels and their four chromed knock-offs.
Interior:
The cabin presents well.
Leather upholstery in black with black piping is in excellent condition and was restored in 2023 (Invoice €1, 980).
Rear seats in black synthetic leather are in very good condition.
Door panels matching the upholstery are also very good, with no deformation or wear marks.
The dashboard and its black synthetic leather cap show no cracks, peeling, discolouration or sagging.
The headliner in grey synthetic leather is taut, with no scratches or tears.
The original MG bakelite steering wheel is in good condition.
The original bakelite gear knob shows natural patina.
Black carpets are in good condition with no noticeable discolouration.
We noted some signs of wear on the driver's side.
Front mats with “MG” lettering are in very good condition.
Battery cover, spare wheel, knock-off key and maul are present.
Among the interior equipment and options of interest, we note: black leather upholstery with black piping, the 3-spoke “MG” steering wheel, Blaupunkt K7 radio and inertia seat belts.
Chassis:
On lifting the car, a solid shell with no visible accident history and no apparent structural corrosion.
Fundamentals: sills, wing panels, wheel arches, floors and side members are in good condition.
As a rule, we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond what is visually and functionally confirmed during road testing and lifting.
During the dynamic test, no abnormal rattles or noises were detected from the body or suspension components (ball joints, bushings, etc.).
Braking is effective and aligned. Its power is enhanced by the presence of a brake master vacuum assist.
Front discs and pads show 15% wear.
Rear drums are fully functional with no leakage signs.
A technical inspection prior to sale will confirm the overall operability.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanics operate perfectly.
Starting is easy, with no smoke or abnormal noises, and idle is stable, as confirmed by the 360° video with the engine running, available at the start of the slideshow.
Compression testing performed by our workshop and the road test confirm a healthy six-cylinder engine.
Oil pressure hot is 30 psi at 500 rpm.
On the road, the engine revs cleanly with no hesitation or overheating.
The six-cylinder sound is enhanced by an stainless steel exhaust line.
This car is equipped with a lead-free catalyst that prevents carbon buildup and fouling of plugs.
Engine reliability is improved by an aluminium cooling radiator and an additional oil cooler radiator.
The gearbox operates perfectly: all four ratios engage and disengage smoothly.
Clutch grip is good.
Notable engine-related equipment contributing to mechanical reliability includes the recent alternator, as well as the additional oil cooler radiator and the aluminium cooling radiator.
As is common on these models, engine/ gearbox/ cradle seals are only average.
