Description
The TGM, after winning the Italian Championship in 1977 in the 50 cc class, prepared four of these motorcycles, one of which was for the Veneto rider Nereo Dal Ferro, who rode for Scuderia Immobilgarda. This motorcycle was his. The engine was no longer the old Sachs but the Morini designed by TGM. The engine was cast in metal and had the gearbox entirely on rollers. This powerplant was ahead of the old Sachs, no longer plagued by the gear problems of the previous engine. When TGM built this motorcycle, it could choose between two power units: the TGM and the Sachs because the dimensions were the same. The Sachs engine was chosen because it was built by the German Mahle – materials that we in Italy did not have. After competing in a race, given the introduction of the 18 mm carburettor, TGM lost interest in the 50 class and did not officially participate again. The motorcycle is preserved in near‑perfect condition. Obviously it is functional and has remained exactly as it raced in 1978. The exhaust is low because with this solution the motorcycle went much faster.
