Description
Model History
With the arrival of the Flavia in 1960, Lancia returned to a traditional radiator grille after several years of rectangular grilles on the Flaminias and later the Appia. The Lancia Fulvia had a very efficient design, just like the Flaminia. The Fulvia had a subframe, but this was much more useful on the Flavia, where the engine and gearbox were built as a single unit. In 1962, the first of many variants appeared. Special Flavia versions included a Pininfarina coupe, a Vignale coupe and 2+2 convertible, and an extraordinary Zagato.
The Flavia Zagato was simply called Sport and can be considered one of Zagato's most exotic designs. For both the Zagato and the Vignale, the boxer engine was a modified version of the so-called "Variante 1005" specification, complete with Nardi cylinder liners and pistons for a displacement of 1727 cc. The Flavia Sport shared the instrument panel with the sedan, but the interior shapes were rounder and softer. This car could be described as an early Zagato-style Panoramica, complete with a later aerodynamic approach.
The car presented here is a fully restored light blue with a beautiful black leather interior. Under the hood, we see a completely new engine with an increased displacement of 1727 cc and Nardi intake manifolds, mounted beneath the twin Solex carburetor. The overall condition of the car exudes class and looks as if it was delivered new. This is a Lancia that is better than new. This is evident from the list of parts that have been renewed.
The Flavia Variante is an extraordinarily rare sight on the Lancia convertible market, and this must currently be the most beautiful one ever made.
A magnificent car for the true enthusiast of a Flavia Vignale convertible.
