Description
1929 Moto Guzzi GT 17 500cc
Extremely Rare Early Italian Army Motorcycle
An exceptional 1929 Moto Guzzi GT 17 500cc and, without question, one of the standout motorcycles within this private collection.
The 1929 Moto Guzzi GT 500 (often called the GT 17 or Norge) was a revolutionary 500cc single-cylinder motorcycle. Built at the Mandello del Lario factory, it famously featured the world's first sprung rear frame. Its durable overhead valve engine and exposed "salami slicer" flywheel produced roughly 13 to 18 horsepower
* Mileage Unknown
Founded in 1921, Moto Guzzi was still a relatively young manufacturer when this motorcycle was produced in 1929. However, the company had already established a reputation for distinctive and innovative engineering, particularly its famous horizontal single-cylinder engine architecture.
This GT 17 is visually extraordinary. Finished in military olive green, it features a horizontal single-cylinder engine, large exposed external flywheel, substantial period front suspension, sprung solo saddle, rear carrying equipment, large period headlamp and GUZZI-branded footboards.
The motorcycle also displays a clearly visible Moto Guzzi identification marking:
L 33648
Further period detailing includes visible Magneti Marelli electrical equipment.
