Description
James was a well-respected brand. James were very proud that they manufactured all of the major components for their machines, unlike many of its contemporaries which bought in the majority. The firm’s first V-Twin, the 3½ hp 500cc No. 7 became available in 1914, priced at 60 guineas. After WWI James continued to offer a quality range of both single and V-Twin machines with the Model 12 Sports Twin becoming available in 1923. They found great success in the popular reliability trials of the day, with all machines individually tested by the works before being despatched to the new owner.
The technical features includes of this 500cc James side valve Sports engine 64mm x 77mm, own made James front forks, sports type handlebar, Adjustable footrests, Aluminium silencer, Lubrication by mechanical pump with adjustable sight feed and auxiliary hand pump, Light chain guards, Brown and Barlow two lever carburettor, Brooks saddle, Finished in black, Tank enamelled in two shades of brown lined red and gold.
This beautifully restored James is one of a small handful of survivors and would grace any collection.
