The distinctive “Round Tank” BSA Model B was introduced in 1924 and quickly became a popular model, as it was ideal for learners and also for travelling tradesmen who simply needed the most basic, cheap and dependable personal transport. It used a 250cc sidevalve engine with a two-speed gearbox and rear-wheel brakes, but had the advanced features of chain drive and an automatic oil pump, though an auxiliary hand pump was retained. A three-speed gearbox was offered as an option from 1926, and a new “Wedge Tank” superseded the original cylindrical tank in 1927.
This lovely and very rare 1928 BSA B28 is a Deluxe model, and is offered for sale in excellent restored condition. It was registered with the DVLA in 1972, which must be when it entered preservation, though it was out of use until recently. Our vendor purchased it at the start of 2025 and since then has conducted further improvements, including having the magneto refurbished by Armoto, the carburettor refurbished by The Timing Chest, the valves lapped, and LED lights fitted. A basket has even been fitted to carry a battery which powers a working set of trafficators. It has recently completed the Banbury Run, and is supplied with the V5C and a VMCC Dating Certificate.
