For over 30 years now, Dax Cars have been re-creating the iconic AC Cobra, building high quality, well assembled re-creations. This is no different. They are known particularly their '427' or Tojeiro model with a small block Chevrolet V8. However this particular example was built with a Chevrolet Big Block 454 7. 4 Litre.
This is a Tojeiro finished in stunning Ford Ink Blue metallic with the classic double white stripe combination. Powered by the iconic Chevy big block engine, it is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The gears are short, and the clutch perfect so it feels like one of the most engaging driving experiences you can get. The side exhausts helping make it sound just as bonkers as it is.
The big-block was a 1970's power unit, and said by many to be one of the best Engines to ever come out of America, very tuneable, and the amount of toque was incredible. Dax's luxury leather package, including cockpit surround, Twin roll hoops with rear stays, Dax's four into one big bore side pipes, Fully dressed Engine bay, fuel injection, HEI distributor, Edelbrock covers, Hallibrand 17" wheels with spinners, Rear stone guards, wind wings and sun visors, Aston fuel filler, Four point Willans race harnesses, sot top hood. The car has recently under gone a refurbishment which has included a full body repaint, engine rebuild including new rings, bearings, crank polished with all new seals and gaskets. The gearbox a Borg Warner T10 was inspected and cleaned with little signs of any wear. So it was re sealed, fresh oil added, the shifter was cleaned, greased and rest and adjusted wth a new hydraulic throwout bearing from McLeod fitted.
A new clutch was fitted replacing the old McLeod racing clutch that had multiple disks, the owner opted for a more traditional single plate clutch and pressure plate. The new unit is rated for 600 bhp.
New shocks and springs were fitted. New bushes were fitted to the arms that have bee blasted, primed and protected. New wheel bearings were also fitted. The brake callipers were fully stripped and cleaned. Painted too match the body in for ink blue. With new seals and pistons. Along with new discs and pads all round.
New brake lines were run throughout the car.
A new fuel system has been installed which included a Holley 4150 Sniper EFI system in replace of the old standard holley carb. New fuel lines were ran throughout a majority are in copper. New fuel filters were added. New wiring loom supplied buy DAX. The car is now running a HEI distributor over the original MSD ignition. This was the owners choice to make the car more usable and reliable.
The interior was completely retrimmed throughout. New seats, dash, carpets. A mohair soft top was fitted.
The car has had an extensive refurbishment and is now ready for the new owner to enjoy.
Contained within the detailed and impressive history file is a comprehensive collection of invoices relating to the cars build/ refurbishment works and documents with regards to its registration.
The car has been in local to us in North Wales for the last 22 years. Having had 3 owners during that time.
