The E34-generation BMW M5 was created at a time when exceptional performance did not yet require a flamboyant appearance. Beneath the understated bodywork lay the high-revving S38B36 inline six-cylinder engine, featuring a separate throttle body for each cylinder, and based on the power unit from the BMW M1. With a displacement of 3, 535 cm³, it delivered 232 kW (315 k), enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ h in approximately 6. 3 seconds, whilst the top speed was electronically limited to 250 km/ h. This 1989 model corresponds to the original M5 specification with the S38B36 engine, which has a displacement of 3, 535 cm³.
