Determined to engineer the most torsionally-rigid open four-seater money could buy, the Crewe manufacturer incorporated additional steel tubing within the newcomer’s A-posts and windscreen frame, reinforced its sills and cross-braced the floorplan even more. The result was a class-leading 16, 595lb. ft. per degree. A very near match in dynamic terms for its Coupé sibling, the Convertible utilised the same crushingly powerful twin-turbocharged six-litre W12 engine, Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive system, massive ABS-backed disc brakes and sophisticated all-round independent air suspension. Electro-hydraulically operated, the Bentley’s luxuriously padded fabric roof not only stowed away neatly but also provided almost limousine levels of refinement. Reputedly capable of over 190mph when *******, the GTC featured two sturdy steel hoops concealed beneath its rear headrests which could be deployed within fractions of a second if the onboard computer sensed an impending roll. Arguably more of a two-plus-two than a true four-seater, the model could raise or lower its hood at speeds of up to 20mph (a nice party piece in slow-moving traffic). The introduction of the GTC Speed saw a power increase from 552bhp to 600bhp and torque raising from 479lb. ft. to 553lb. ft., helping the Speed to crack 60mph in the same 4. 8secs. as the GT. Improved styling was included too, with Speed sill plates, a more upright, dark-tinted grille, new 20in. rims, a discreet rear spoiler and a slightly lower stance. An especially elegant and tasteful example of the Continental GTC, this car appears in the colour of Moonbeam with a Black roof and an interior trimmed in Beluga hide with Beluga carpets, a Light Grey roof lining, and Porpoise contrast stitching and seat piping. It is extremely well specified, with original equipment including diamond-quilted upholstery; a smoking package with front and rear ashtrays; a rear-view mirror with automatic dimming; leather-covered sun visors with vanity mirrors and lights; and a massage function in the front seats. The electrical installations include a garage and electric gate opener; a 12-speaker multi-channel sound package; automatic low-beam lights; a Bluetooth telephone system; 14-way front seat adjustment; front seat heaters; rain-sensing windscreen wipers; an iPod interface and more. Our GTC has had a total of six registered keepers, the present acquiring it in 2022. It has been well maintained throughout its life, with the PDI performed by Broughtons Bentley at 49 miles, and the first service also by Broughtons at 2, 660 miles in 2012. It has subsequently been serviced at 7, 189 miles in 2013 by Bentley Surrey; 9, 868 miles in 2014 by Bentley Kent; 12, 265 miles in 2015 by Bentley Knutsford; 13, 649 miles in 2016 by a Bentley main dealer; 15, 184 miles in 2017 and 18, 307 miles in 2018 by Bentley Tunbridge Wells; 19, 580 miles in 2021 by Porsche specialist Geo Morrison Motors; and 26, 213 miles in 2022 by SUV 4×4 Ltd. The present mileage stands at around 26, 600. The Bentley displays an impressive MOT record, with the current certificate valid until May, 2027, and showing no advisories. In addition, it is supplied with the V5C, old MOTs, assorted invoices, the book pack including the service book, a specification sheet, plus a Bentley fitted car cover and trickle charger. ** Bidding will take place live at the venue, online via our H&H website, by telephone and commission - T&Cs apply** Catalogues can be purchased for £20 (admits 2...
