Description
The 360 Spider is Ferrari's first true mid-engined convertible, not a targa with a removable roof panel but a proper open car. The fabric roof folds automatically into the engine bay, hidden beneath a rear deck with twin humps that also conceal the roll-over hoops. The 3. 6 litre V8 with five valves per cylinder produces 400 ps at 8, 500 rpm, paired with the F1 transmission and paddle shifters. The Spider received additional bracing in the sills, floorpan, windscreen frame and rear bulkhead, adding 80 kg over the Modena.
Fun fact: the 360's chassis was the first full aluminium chassis in a Ferrari road car, developed together with Alcoa. It is 40 percent stiffer than the F355's and 28 percent lighter, despite the car growing ten percent in overall dimensions.
