‘The call of the open road, Surf Trip style’ The history of the legendary Volkswagen ‘Split’ Combi began in 1947 when importer Ben Pon sketched a revolutionary front-cab utility vehicle inspired by a factory handling vehicle from the Wolfsburg plant. Launched in March 1950, this first generation (the Type 2) instantly stood out thanks to its iconic two-part windscreen and featured the robust air-cooled Flat-4 engine from the Beetle. A true revolution in versatility during the 1950s, it was available in panel van, pick-up or as a luxurious microbus with roof windows, initially gaining popularity amongst tradespeople before becoming the ultimate symbol of freedom and, today, a coveted collector’s item worldwide. This combi minibus was first registered in 1965 in the United States and is a ‘Deluxe’ version with 21 windows, fitted with the extremely rare and highly sought-after panoramic sunroof that literally transforms the interior. It is finished in dark blue and blue-white, colour codes L360 (Seeblau) and L289 (Blauweiss). This official two-tone combination pairs deep sea blue on the lower part of the bodywork with a pastel white tinged with blue on the roof and pillars. This colour scheme is legendary in the history of the VW Combi. This T2 Split is in superb overall condition, reflecting meticulous maintenance and regular care since its restoration. Inside, the upholstery boasts an absolutely impeccable finish and is what gives this car its charm. On the outside, the paintwork is dazzling.
