In 1993, in the United Kingdom, it was even awarded the title of "Performance Car of the Year". Whilst such accolades must be viewed in the context of their time, the 968 CS should absolutely not be underestimated.
In the 968, the water-cooled four-cylinder engine was mounted at the front and the gearbox at the rear, connected by a robust transmission shaft. The result is easy to imagine: a perfectly balanced car. Add to this intelligent ergonomics, lightweight construction and the fact that, being an evolution of the 944, the car was practically free from design flaws. As a final touch for the series, Porsche adopted the philosophy of "less is more", believing that a lighter 968 would offer even better performance and handling. Whilst one might question whether the weight reduction achieved through a lighter alternator, reduced sound insulation and a single radiator (totalling 40 kg less) was truly noticeable, the 968 Club Sport proved enormously successful for its performance and driving dynamics. It's no coincidence that the 968 is a regular sight at track days; the entry price for a car of this calibre is also quite reasonable.
However, the example presented here is exceptional in several respects, and for good reason. This CS has never seen track use and is completely original; only one wing was resprayed in the past due to a scratch, the interior appears as new and the car comes with excellent documentation. Both the car and its history are extraordinary!
This 968 is a collector's piece: only 1, 538 units were produced in Club Sport version and very few have survived in these conditions. It's a car without compromise, both aesthetically and mechanically; several invoices document the regular replacement of the timing belt, clutch, brakes and other components. Of course, the original maintenance and user manuals are also included. A rare car, in a rare colour and in exceptional condition!
