The Bultaco Metralla 62 is an iconic model from the Catalan marque Bultaco. Founded in 1958 by Xavier Bulto following his departure from Montesa, due to disagreements over strategy. The climate at the time was challenging with the arrival of the SEAT 600 making motorcars accessible to the middle classes.
A happy balance was struck in 1959 with the Bultaco Tralla 101, an agile and versatile two-stroke, both performance-oriented and commercially viable. The Metralla 62 continues this vision, representing a key milestone in the consolidation of the brand.
It is the logical continuation of the Tralla 101's success. In 1962, the Metralla 62 was launched with a single-cylinder engine of 196 cc producing 10 bhp at 7, 000 rpm, weighing just 97 kg with a top speed of 130 km/ h. Its deliberately simple engineering quickly earned it an excellent reputation, particularly on the British competition market, which was crucial for Bultaco's profitability, as motorcycle racing was virtually invisible in the Spanish media at the time.
It paved the way for one of the brand's road-going successes, the Bultaco Metralla MK2. This example stands out for its exceptional state of preservation: completely rebuilt engine and immaculate presentation.
