Description
There is something special about an early Oval-window Beetle, and this March 1954 example has a story worth telling.
A matching-numbers car that has never been restored, it has been well cared for throughout its life and remained in the same family until 2020.
In 2020, it was repainted and received a major mechanical service. Since then, it has covered only around 200 km.
The car retains its original 6-volt electrical system. At some point in its life, the original semaphore indicators were replaced with conventional flashing indicators, a change that actually suits the car rather well.
It is also certified as a Vehicle of Historical Interest by the Museu Automóvel de Famalicão.
What makes this Beetle particularly appealing is its authenticity. It has never undergone a full restoration and has clearly benefited from careful ownership over the years. A charming early Beetle with a known history, ready for someone to enjoy and continue its story.
The car is located in northern Portugal, about 30 minutes from Porto International Airport. If you are travelling from abroad and would like to see it in person, I will be happy to collect you from the airport and show you the car by appointment.
Additional photographs and a video are available on request.
