Description
This 2001 Range Rover P38 is a 4. 0-litre V8 Westminster, finished in Java Black with an Ash Grey interior and Poplar Anthracite wood trim.
The Westminster was one of the later special editions of the P38, and this example has a particularly smart specification. The front and rear bumpers and door mirrors are all finished in body-colour Java Black, while Anthracite wheels complete the exterior.
Inside, the Ash Grey upholstery is paired with the darker Poplar Anthracite wood trim. Equipment includes Harman Kardon speakers, factory satellite navigation, heated front seats, air conditioning, an electric sunroof and cruise control. The front seats are manually adjustable rather than electric.
The heated seats, sunroof and air conditioning are all currently working. The cruise control isn't, which is worth mentioning rather than pretending otherwise.
Under the bonnet is the 4. 0-litre Rover V8, paired with an automatic gearbox. The car is also ULEZ compliant, making it considerably easier to use in and around London than many cars of a similar age.
The car has had nine owners in total. There isn't a complete history from new, but its current owner has spent over £5, 700 on the car between November 2024 and October 2025 alone, addressing a substantial amount of mechanical and cosmetic work.
The majority of the mechanical work has been carried out by our in house Land Rover Specialist. In November 2024 the car received an engine oil and filter service, new air and cabin filters, together with servicing of the automatic gearbox, differentials and transfer box. New MTEC front and rear discs and pads were also fitted, along with a new track rod set and anti-roll bar bushes.
Further work in February 2025 included replacement of the valley gasket, cam-cover gasket, inlet-manifold and throttle-body gaskets, together with a new drive belt, HT leads and coil packs. The offside window regulator and central locking mechanism were also replaced.
The air-conditioning and heating system then received considerable attention. A new air-conditioning condenser and fans were fitted, along with heater O-rings, a blower fan, HEVAC control unit and new pressure switches before the system was regassed.
In July 2025, the cooling and suspension systems were attended to with a new coolant expansion tank, thermostat and upgraded aluminium radiator, together with replacement bump stops and a new Yuasa battery.
The braking system received further work in September, including new copper rear brake pipes, Goodridge braided brake hoses all round and fresh brake fluid.
Most recently, in October 2025 at 170, 600 miles, the car received another engine oil and filter change, together with a replacement sump gasket and air-suspension compressor.
The interior hasn't been overlooked either, with £600 spent on a completely new headlining, including retrimming the pillars in matching material.
It is worth being clear that the history available with the car relates primarily to its current ownership rather than providing an uninterrupted record from new. What it does show is significant recent expenditure across the engine, transmission, cooling system, air conditioning, suspension, brakes and interior.
With more than £5, 700 spent in under a year, a great deal of the age-related maintenance these cars require has already been addressed. Combined with the Java Black paintwork, Ash Grey interior and 4. 0-litre V8, it makes for a nicely sorted and well-specified late P38 Westminster.
