Description

1982 Honda Chaly CF70

Very Nice Original Monkey Bike, last owner for 13 years. I bought this bike for a filming project in October 2013, decided it was far too nice and original to be messed with and have bought a Skyteam Dax copy instead.

The bike is taxed until the end of April and MOT's until the 28th of May and ready to ride.

I couldn't resist freshening up the bike so it will last another 32 years, including the following:

Forks rechromed by the best in the business, AM Philpotts. Hard chrome on the sliding part and cosmetic chrome on the lower, unswept part (hence the line on the photos). Standard forks are just cosmetic chromed, hence they don't last, these now should last forever, I've also waxoiled the insides. They went through the chrome bath 10 times!

New tubes and tyres, I also had to buy some more genuine rims and then they were repainted properly to avoid future rusting.

Frame has been rust treated, stone chipped underneath and the whole lot clear coated to avoid any future corrosion. Therefore the paint and stickers are original and have a lovely patina.

New headstock bearings. All the fastners have been cleaned, some have been re-plated and polished, all have been copper slipped and torqued back up so they will come apart easily in the future. Bearings checked, all fine, brakes rebuilt, cables oiled, fuel tank rust treated and stone chipped, inside squeaky clean. New Yuasa battery, new footpegs and side stand. Exhaust very solid and has been re-painted. New seat (replica). New Swinging Arm and bushes.

Problems: The new footpeg bar sits lower than original and is a bit close to the exhaust. New Seat is not the quality of the old one. The old one is included, base/ foam in great shape but needs a new cover. Chrome on the racks has some corrosion. a few nicks on the corners of the plastics. Obviously it has various marks from it's 32 years of use. The shaft from the old centre stand (included) is seized in the stand so had to be carefully cut to refurb the frame. Last owner was a jolly nice and well to do chap from Cheltenham who kept it covered in waxoil, hence the condition.

Please call and come and view, will fit in the back of a car if you loosen the bars.
