A rust free body and recent mechanical restoration retaining all the unique parts to the model in great condition. It's complete but with sensible upgrades to enhance the performance and usability of the car.
Body:
£5000 just spent on keeping the Type 49 shell in tip top shape. BB49JAXXXXX July 69 build in Ermine White.
Drivetrain:
Full engine, gearbox and axle rebuild in 2011 at a cost of £5400 with a Lotus specialist. Correct 701M “L” block bored to 83. 65mm with EN40 steel 72. 75mm crank, Accralite forged pistons, H section steel con rods, steel flywheel, QED 420 camshafts, dual verniers, unleaded big valve spec head, Burton modular water pump. The correct and rare original induction components are fitted plus plenum drain and washer bottle are still with the car. If you know these cars, you'll know what these parts go for on eBay! Correct 2000E gearbox rebuilt 2011. Correct English axle c/ w 3. 77:1 CWP. Quaife ATB differential for great traction and smooth power delivery. Converted to run on Jenvey throttle bodies controlled by an Omex 600 ecu and coil pack at great cost by Northampton Motorsport, meaning smooth running and great fuel economy. Weber 40DCOE carbs and distributor available.
Suspension:
2. 25” front struts with 180lbs springs, Bilstein 300/ 70 inserts and roller bearing top mounts with dust caps. Group 1 vented brake disks with correct spaced P16 calipers running Mintex 1144 pads. Complete polybushed suspension. Original 5. 25” front struts and top mounts in standard specification available. Genuine Minilite 6. 5” wheels fitted. Original Lotus steel 5. 5” wheels and hub caps available.
Interior:
Correct silver 6 dial dashboard with 8000 rpm tacho and 140mph speedo. Correct carpets in excellent condition. Contour Clubman front seats c/ w headrests. Correct rear seat. Correct door cards and kick panels. Original Springalex steering wheel.
Everything works on this is a well sorted, really good car that's a pleasure to drive and own. When I clean it and show it, it gets a great reaction, often taking a prize. But, when I drive it, it really delivers. If you want one of these and want to use it, not just polish it, this is the one and it's only for sale with great regret. If wanted to rebuild a car to this standard it would cost well over what I'm asking.
