First registered in 1993, this lovely car was one of the last to roll off the production line in1992 before Mercedes reduced the over engineered early124 build quality; dubbed the Stuttgart Tank, it's regarded by many as the last of the great Mercedes. Later models have the star mounted on the bonnet lid; earlier ones like this have it on the grill.
It has a service history from new, has had 4 owners (including myself since 2006) and was formally owned by a meticulous Railway engineer who kept a maintenance log, which I’ve continued with the help of a Merc specialist garage.
It has a cream leather interior, 7 seats, and a Mercedes boot liner for trips to the dump. It’s lovely to drive as well as being economical to run, I briefly had the same car in a petrol and believe me I noticed the difference.
The engine and auto gearbox are excellent.
The interior is really clean and well cared for.
It’s done 169, 000 m, just run in for a w124 as they regularly reach the 250 k mark without problems.
It’s been a great family car, practical and stylish and still turns heads.
We’ve owned it since 2006 (130, 000m) and have done about 40, 000 miles since then. As the kids have grown, it’s now become a shopping trolley so we decided to buy a campervan to travel a bit before the zimmer frame beckons.
Whoever buys will get a lovely car and have to forgive me if I can’t watch it drive away.
All fluids and filters have been changed at service intervals and parts replaced as necessary, see below. The interior is excellent apart from a sun visor clip has come adrift and a piece of the plastic on the seat housing has broken. Parts are generally available through ebay or Merc parts specialists and fairly cheap. There are some replacement wheel trims and some face lift rear lights if required (I prefer the original ones).

4 Michelin tyres.
Front exhaust section
Total fluid change Oil +filters, Transmission +filter, and break fluid.
Break Pads all round
Bushes replaced on front wishbone and anti roll bars.
Rear wishbone arms and rubbers replaced.
New battery.
2 new front wings (that’s where they always rust.)
Drive belts.
And that’s just the last 10K miles.
