Beschreibung
This 1954 Land Rover Series 1 86", which runs and drives, has just been recovered from a property in the Blue Mountains in country New South Wales. The vehicle was purchased new in 1955 by the Rural Transmission Lines Company in New South Wales and was then sold to its previous owner who had the intention of restoring it but never did. The Rural Transmission Lines stencil is still visible on the upper driver’s door panel as is the evidence of a line reel on the same door. The drive train which is all original is very good; the engine turns over easily, the clutch engages correctly and the transmission shifts into all gears, including reverse. It is missing one original seat back, the other two are in the tray. The odometer reads 33005 miles (53116 km) and I suspect, given the condition of the vehicle that its correct.
The vehicle, which runs and drives, is in as found condition, with a decent chassis and bulkhead, complete original drive train and a good body. I purchased the car after being told about it by a mate who knew I was restoring my own 1954 Series 1. I'd intended using it for parts, but on seeing the car (and buying it) I realised its far too good for that and should be restored.
