This right hand drive DS23 in desirable Pallas specfication with five speed manual gearbox and carburettor 2. 3 litre engine was supplied new in South Africa in January 1975 and imported into the UK in 2012. It has the Gradulux rear blind and vinyl trim. It had new carpets, corrosion repairs; paint work, new spheres and other essential hydraulics; new headlining and a new GRP boot lid in 2012 all work done by Citroen Classics, the total bill being in excess of £13000. It is registered as a historic vehicle so there is no road tax to pay. There is a very large history file detailing work done in South Africa just before it came to the UK. MOT is until July 2018.
Good points include smart paintwork and apparently rust-free body shell: strong engine with very good performance, pleasant five speed gear box and good brakes and steering, A pleasure to drive in fact.
Less good are the splits in the front seats - although they are by no means an eyesore – and the fact that it is shod with low profile tyres which it drives very well on but look slightly small in the front arches although as has been pointed out they are fairly new, supple and circular rather than hard, old and square! An up-grade the correct Michelins would be suggested for long term ownership. Totally usable car with all the hefty stuff done; to improve in detail or simply enjoy. With carburettor and manual box but the large engine this potentially the best of these cars, certainly one of the nicest I have driven.
