After having owned various Citroens from 1979 until 2009, when I sold my CX Turbo-Auto.
I thought I’d given up on them. I’d owned lots, from 2CV van, Dyanes, GSAs, several DSs, CXs, driven my Traction around France and Spain….. time to relax into memories, I thought.
I’d never had an XM though.
Didn’t think I would find a good enough one, as I’m very particular. If I had to define my needs, …well I saw the following, which was exactly how I’d have defined my want-list!

41000 miles from new with complete service history from new.
Log book shows three owners; Citroen UK (the car was used by Alain Favey, the MD, from Sept 2000 until 2001), then my father-in-law, then when he passed away in 2009 title passed to my mother-in-law.
The car drives as you would expect of a low mileage car, just like new, especially, as it has had a pampered service history. Expert attention from Citroen specialist, regularly, annual service, plus much preventative work (like having been waxoyled to prevent any rust and Autogearbox oil changes) carried out along with anything that has ever needed doing. All invoices are in a folder, along with all the old MOTs and stamped up service book.

The owner was a well-known Citroen person of high regard in the CCC.
The car was exactly as described. Everything works-and still does.
It's the last XM 3 Litre car made for UK.
It drives like it should, smooth and powerful when needed.
“It’s like riding on a cushion” said a recent passenger” (Not in a bad way!)
The car now has 43500 miles on it, as poor health has somewhat restricted my use of it. I’m coming to the conclusion that my driving days are getting less, so it’s time for some other connoisseur of Citroens to own it.
It’s as good as the pictures suggest. Belt done, oils regularly changed, a large file of every MOT, service etc. The MOT will be redone on Sept 27.
While the price of £5500 might seem higher than most XMs, the quality is equally so. I’ve seen two other 3 litre cars of similar mileage sell for over £5K (one in worse condition)
Car is in Bristol, close to M5 junction 18.
Can be viewed any time by arrangement.
