On offer here is my Mk1 Escort 1100L now fitted with a 1300 crossflow and twin choke Weber carb, while the gearbox and rear axle remain standard. The paintwork, although shiney would benefit from a flat and polish in some areas - it certainly wouldn’t win any concourse competition! ‘Sport’ decals have been added to enhance appearance only - it is not a genuine Sport!! The interior is a nice place to sit and in good condition, using Mk2 Escort Ghia seats, along with a 6 dial dash and a new carpet set. The headlining is all there albeit a little grubby, and the heater matrix has been rerouted because of a seepage. As with most Escorts, fabrication work has been carried out over the years to ensure it maintains a roadworthy condition - ie; to front floor pans and inner wings etc. Front suspension is 2. 8 Bisteins with vented discs, while at the rear are standard drums and adjustable Spax. Also fitted is a large bore exhaust manifold and system which would easily accommodate a 1600 crossflow. Although opinions vary, I would personally rate my car at 6 out of 10 - please consider this before traveling! MoT’d for 6 months and obviously tax exempt, the car starts, drives and stops as it should - and handles very well.... and is ready to enjoy. In summary; it’s not perfect, but a good entry level into Mk1 Escort ownership.
