For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover Series 2 in Deep Bronze Green (1958)
Petrol 2286cc. Tax Exempt. MOT exempt.
Here we have for sale, an extremely early Series (number 16 off the line), and most importantly, was part of a batch of 22 experimental Series 2s fitted with the "new" 2286cc petrol engine - this then is one of the very first Series 2 Land Rovers to have been fitted with this unit. The chassis number is clearly visible on the chassis leg, and the engine number is No 23, so also very early. The engine number is also clearly visible, making this a numbers matching vehicle.
Apart from this being only the 16th Land Rover Series 2 off the line with one of the first 2286cc engines, it's also a good, solid truck, having had lots of attention in recent years..... there is a full pack with this vehicle, supporting the claims made in this advert from the Series 2 Club, plus lots of receipts from recent works. The original engine has had a full rebuild recently, and we have also added a new carburretor so that it runs as sweetly as it does.
Being of historical interest we have resisted the temptation to tinker, so have presented it exactly as it came in.... it has of course undergone all the usual checks and maintenance we carry out, to prepare it for sale. It's nice to note that the dash lights work, as does the heater, both wipers and the switched reversing lights - all very handy.
Internally, it's nice and original, with three front seats and no belts - how it should be (we can fit you belts if needed). The rear is unfitted except for the load mat and spare.
On the outside, it's all standard again, and just what you'd expect to see. There's a towbar too.
Out on the road, it trundles along very well, and was a joy to drive.
A full soft top conversion is also available should it be required.
If you are a collector of early chassis number Land Rovers, or just want a good, early, genuine 2 (not 2a), then this is worth a look. And tax and MOT exempt, with low insurance......!
