Only produced from 1976 - 1977 the Carrera 3. 0 is an important milestone in the history of Porsche. The successor to the Carrera 2. 7 and the Carrera 2. 7RS, the 3. 0 used an engine based on the extremely rare Carrera 3. 0RS of which only 109 were made. The engine became the basis for the legendary 911 Turbo and a much overlooked fact is that with its increased torque it could reach 60mph in 6. 1 seconds, the same as its legendary and now £500, 000+ predecessor the 2. 7RS.
One of only 600 RHD Coupe models produced in 1977 recently the Porsche Club of Great Britain had only 75 matching numbers cars on its register from that year making this a rare car indeed.
This impeccable matching numbers example is finished in Polar White with black 'Carrera' decals along the doors. It has the period and original black vinyl seats with velour pinstripe inserts and was ordered with a factory sunroof.
The car has a photographic record of a full engine out restoration and respray carried out in 1999 and a thick and comprehensive folder of bills from 1977 to the present day. The odometer currently reads 40, 575 but a documented odometer change at 53, 800 by Charles Ivey Porsche on 18. 06. 86 means the car has covered a well documented 94, 375. The original spare is present, as is the original tool roll and original tyre compressor.
The car currently wears a 'ducktail' rear spoiler but the original engine cover and optional Whaletail also come with the car.
With many year's MOT Certificates and Tax Discs it is easy to ascertain that this rare Porsche has been well maintained during the course of its life and has covered a mere 16, 000 miles since restoration in 1999.
The car runs and drives beautifully and will come with 12 months MOT.
