Description
A very limited number (528 pieces) was built and at its launch it was the most expensive production vehicle at that time( years 1975-1986). The Camargue shared its platform with the Silver Shadow and Corniche but was longer, wider and heavier than the Silver Shadow. The well known 6750cc V8-engine produced 220 hp (161 kW) and delivered a top speed of 119 miles (192 km / h). Paolo Martin of the Italian Pininfarina was responsible for the design of this luxury coupé which, with its angular and sleek lines unlike any Rolls-Royce before, evoked very different responses. The final cars were built in late 1985 and completed during 1986.. A one-off Camargue was built for a customer in 1985(this car). This car was not turbocharged but fitted with the standard V8 engine.
IN late 1985 and 1986, The very last two cars produced were built for JAPAN and MIDDLE EAST the final one left the factory destined for the importers in Tokyo on Christmas Eve 1986 and so ended an eleven year production run. The other one was built for the middle east ( IRAQ). as the ( statistics VIN no. of Camargue ).
The car history is the most distinctive , its been specially made for the President SADDAM HUSSEIN, s family (FIRST owner) , it was one of their favorite cars, one of the few remaining in the world in its original condition, which belonged to them, and it, s still contains some of ( UDAY, s) personal things such as The special hand made CIGAR with his named Logo, his eye sunglasses and the car booklet (Maintenance Manual ) issued by the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq in that time ( all originals), this car had been kept since 2003 and never been showed till now . ****** SO it is a rare car with a rare history .*******
