1987 MERCEDES BENZ C126 420 SEC
Just arrived with us is this beautiful c126 coupe. Purchased from a customer of ours in North London. He is only the second owner and had owned it since 2002.
This has been a cherished vehicle all of its life but unfortunately has not been on the road since 2014 due to the owners advancing years.
This is a very light restoration and could easily be enjoyed now as is, he had it painted seven years ago but in my opinion it cant have been lacquered correctly as it is very dull in areas and you can tell some of the panels have not been prepared correctly where the paint has crazed slightly.
We have fitted a new battery and the engine starts and runs very nice as does the gearbox.
The bodywork is very solid in general as are the sills and all chassis legs. There is a patch of corrosion on the nearside rear inside the bootlid (this will require welding) probably inch square. Front inner wings are extremely good (normally a weak spot on these) and have not rusted out at all.
There are some cracks in the top of the dashboard and the headlining has dropped half an inch just behind the sunroof. The leather is in good condition although they will require reconnolising to remove some areas of fading.
I would give the car a full service and MOT if I were to keep it and I expect that the brakes will also want cleaning up or replacing due to the length of time it has stood (they still work well though)
I have a large amount of paperwork for this car including all original books, service book containing 15 services up to 71000 miles – these were all carried out by the same Mercedes main dealer and latterly a mercedes specialist.
The second owner acquired the car at 71000 miles and since then I have a full mileage log (including every petrol station fill up believe it or not!!) and an entry for everything he has ever bought for the car right up to 98000 miles. In addition to this there is lots more paperwork/ invoices and a plethora of old MOT certificates. 120000 recorded miles
In addition to the Lorinser wheels that the car is fitted with I also have the originals which I will include in the sale (they will require the tyres changing)
The vehicle will require collection by a trailer due to it having no MOT or we can deliver for £1. 50 per mile one way.
