The Appeal
The difference between this enhanced Defender and some of the others is that it was specifically built for expedition use. That means the improvement go well beyond either cosmetic or fashionable. This is a 110 XS specified with serious intent.
The vendor tells us that he bought it in 2010. Finished in dark blue metallic, it was factory supplied as a luxury ‘XS’ model with seven seats. It has now been converted to five seats - to suit its expedition goals - but could be easily converted back. The specification is impressive, including full bespoke roll cage, 200L fuel tanks, engine upgrade to 195bhp and Ashcroft LSDs to front and rear axles.
The vendor tells us that the engine, gearbox and transfer box were rebuilt less than 6,000 miles ago. He has continued the previous keeper’s regime of annual and bi-annual Waxoyling, which means the chassis and underside remain in very good order. It has been regularly serviced and carries MOT to January 2026.
You could merely enjoy this stylish Defender locally, but with a specification this extensively surely your plans should include somewhere interesting and distant too.
The vendor says:
“This is a complete expedition vehicle , in superb condition , both mechanically and chassis in pristine condition, I find in immensely enjoyable to drive and use in any conditions but particularly off road on big trips. Put a roof tent on top and it is ready for any adventure!
“The vehicle has been serviced locally, by a Land Rover specialist, every 8,000 miles. Miller race proven (nanoparticle) oil used which apparently hugely increases engine longevity.”

With a cage the weight is transmitted to the chassis not carried by the roof. It has side pods on either side. These have additional 60L fuel tanks fitted. Total capacity 200L. The other obvious feature is the Foxwing awning ( shown in the photos) covers the passenger side and rear of the vehicle and has side panels. So whatever the weather you are protected. The rear of the vehicle has a swing do0r part of the cage which holds the rear "spare" wheel and the highlift jack. There is a second spare wheel which can be strapped to the roof. Currently the vehicle has large offroad Cooper tyres on large steel wheels. There is a superwinch 1200 fitted at the front. It has LED headlights fitted these have a daytime "Halo " running light system , currently not connected. There are also available with the sale NAS type LED exterior lights, which modernize the appearance. These have not yet been fitted. There are two access points on the rear panel for 60 L internal vertical water tanks, which have been fitted but now removed. These could easily be replaced if required. There is currently no tow bar fitted but there are dual tow electrics and a tow bar could be fitted simply by bolting a drop plate to the rear, with a tow ball. There is a four bike , bike rack able to be fitted to the rear spare tyre.
“The interior has seating for five ( though the original rear sided seats are available). It is standard Defender. The passenger seat has an extension to allow for better leg room. There is an updated radio fitted. Under the bonnet is a Webasto diesel powered heater which keeps you nice and warm in winter or on Cold climate expeditions. The air conditioning has been overhauled and is fully functional. There is a 3000watt inverter in the cubby box and twin odyssey batteries with a battery management system under the passenger seat. In the rear is a pull out lockable drawer for storage, fitted between the wheel arches With a second aluminium box available in place of the rear seat a rear king size inflatable bed can be created, in the vehicle. I have used this system extensively. There is a third aluminium box available the same size as the pull out drawer, this is lockable and can be strapped to the roof for luggage. VendedorNada en la ITV. Una era respecto al eje de transmisión; la otra, al sistema de escape. Ambos ya han sido solucionados.
