The story behind this model: The Chevrolet Corvette C3 showed the tip of its long bonnet in 1968 by General Motors presented at the motor show in the prestigious Waldorf-Astoria hotel on Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York. Did you know that the name "Corvette" is of French origin? It was found by Myron Scott, a photographer and art director who was then assistant director of Chevrolet's public relations department. The Corvette came in two versions, coupé and cabriolet, and in 8 generations from C1 to C8.
In all cases, the styling remained inimitable and aggressive, with lines reminiscent of certain Ferraris, but above all the look of a shark!
The third generation (the C3), inspired by designer Larry Shinoda's Mako Shark concept car, was produced from 1968 to 1982. The C3 coupé is available with an automatic gearbox, but we've gone one step further and brought you the cabriolet model with a manual gearbox! Two rare and prized features that are virtually impossible to find on the European car market. It was in 1974 that the new rear end of the Stingray was designed, for this model year only, with a two-piece rear bumper cut vertically down the middle. And it's exactly this model year that we're offering you today! A little anecdote: the brand was looking for a new symbol for the Corvette.
Louis Chevrolet, the brand's founder, is of Swiss origin! They were inspired by his origins to incorporate the Swiss flag. The logo therefore represents the Swiss flag, the fleur-de-lys (symbol of royalty, purity and peace) and a chequered flag (initially it was the American flag, but now it's been banned). Who are we?
