Introduced in 1959 and produced until 2000, the Mini is clearly an automotive icon!
Few cars can boast of having produced more than 5 million units over 40 years!
Of course, over as many years of production, different evolutions would appear, but the "so British" style would remain the same for decades.
As well as its endearing looks, which are known the world over, and its career on the roads, both in films and among the general public, the Mini also has an historic racing record; no-one has forgotten its 3 victories in the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 65 and 67. For the anecdote, it should have won the 1966 edition, if it hadn't been disqualified afterwards. Mini also took part in many other motor racing events, including rallycross.
At the beginning of 2000, under the BMW era, Mini was modernised and, above all, expanded, to become a truly complete brand today, with a range of different models on offer all the time.
NYC's/ OXOTO is offering for sale this beautiful grey car with burgundy leather interior, delivered new in Belgium in April 1991 and currently clocking up 44, 000 km. It should be noted that we have a good record of the mileage via the car pass data, but in the early 2000s there were some inconsistencies. As far as the colour is concerned, although this grey is extremely beautiful, it is not in its original colour, which was black (you can see this with the interiors of the body parts). The white roof and stripes give it a great Cooper look, with widened wings.
Its current owner is a Belgian who has owned it since 2018. It was her weekend getaway car to enjoy a nice Mini with a great look (Cooper).
As far as the bodywork is concerned, it looks relatively good but it's not perfect. Various flaws are visible, but they are minor. Except around the windscreen, we didn't see any corrosion in the sensitive areas, which is very good. No dents or scratches either.
The chrome is in excellent condition.
The interior is really clean, with the exception of the two front seats which have a minor defect (a mark on the back of the driver's seat and some wear on the passenger seat), everything else is in order; the wooden dashboard, the roof lining, the carpets, etc., all look very good.
Finally, although we don't keep track of the bills, the mechanics are in order: it starts without a hitch, doesn't overheat, handles straight, brakes well, etc. We drove it about 80 km without the slightest problem. Check out our website for photos taken on deck.
The last technical inspection dates from April 2023 (43, 849 kms on the clock) and mentions only 2 minor remarks: wear/ play in the suspension joint and a deformation on the structure of the underside, which is a very frequent remark on old Mini cars.
