Extremely rare, our BMW 1600 E10 ALPINA was sold new in Switzerland in 1967. In Tampico colour with a caramel interior, the colour combination is striking. Its first owner had Alpina prepare the car with a package consisting of two Solex 40 PHH carburettors, a stainless steel Spaghetti exhaust, front and rear anti-roll bars, aluminium wheels, a bespoke steering wheel and gear knob, wider tyres and a sport suspension. Its engine producing around 120 bhp is mated to a four-speed gearbox allowing the car to reach 191 km/ h.
Created in 1965 by Burkard Bovensiepen in Bavaria, Alpina originated as a car-tuner for the Bavarian maker BMW. From the outset, the quality offered by Alpina meant BMW continued to honour the warranty on modified cars. The serious and substantial preparations led to ALPINA being recognised as a motor manufacturer as early as 1983.
In use, this car is a genuine pleasure, emitting a captivating sound and delivering impressive performance.
