The Volkswagen Golf Mk2 GTI 16S, launched in 1984, is a sporty version of the famous compact car. The successor to the Golf Mk1 GTI, it embodied a significant evolution with a slightly rounded design, developed under the direction of Schäfer at Volkswagen, while preserving the visual identity of its predecessor. Under the bonnet, the GTI 16S version was powered by a 1. 8-litre in-line four-cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic injection. In 1986, a version with double overhead camshafts (DOHC) was introduced, delivering 139 bhp at 6, 100 rpm and 168 Nm of torque at 4, 600 rpm.
