The Atelier des 1000 is pleased to present for sale this superb 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible V8, in a configuration that is both elegant and timeless: Silver Blue Metallic finish paired with a turquoise vinyl interior.
An absolute symbol of the American automotive dream, the Mustang embodies the spirit of freedom and sportiness of the sixties. More than sixty years after its birth, it remains an icon and continues to charm enthusiasts around the world.
Our example, built at the San Jose, California plant, stands out for its overall sound condition and its engine fully rebuilt by a French specialist.
The block has been cleaned, bored (+0. 040”) and machined, the crankshaft has been ground, and the assembly has received new pistons, rings, bearings, camshafts, lifters, valves and seals. The cylinder heads have been completely rebuilt, and the engine has been reassembled, painted and fitted with a new oil pump. A new water pump, an aluminium radiator, a new alternator and a new starter complete the engine work.
Carburettors and ignition were overhauled in 2024, a fine-tuning carried out on this occasion, delivering excellent engine behaviour.
The 4. 7L V8 now offers exemplary running, instant cold start, steady idle, no smoke, and a distinctly American exhaust note perfectly enhanced by the recently replaced exhaust system.
The C4 automatic gearbox is pleasant, with smooth gear changes.
The running gear shows no abnormal play, the anti-roll bar is mounted on reinforced bushings and the suspensions were replaced a few years ago, giving particularly precise and comfortable handling for this Mustang.
Braking is solid and balanced, with brake hoses recently replaced.
The metallic Silver Blue paintwork shines beautifully, evenly and with a glossy finish.
The underbody is particularly solid and free from structural rust.
The chrome trims are gleaming and complement this summer-friendly configuration.
The original wheels with Ford centre caps look very good and are fitted with recent tyres.
Inside, the turquoise upholstery and matching carpet are in good condition, all presenting an authentic patina that adds charm to the whole.
The instrument cluster is fully functional, as is the recent radio, reproducing the look of period units and adding a desirable neo-retro touch.
The beige alpaca soft-top is in good condition.
