L’Atelier des 1000 is pleased to offer for sale this superb Peugeot 304 S Cabriolet, in an elegant and light-filled configuration, in its white body colour paired with a black leather interior and its matching hood.
Produced between 1970 and 1980, the 304 Cabriolet represented a modern and accessible vision of open-top motoring. Signed by Pininfarina, it was aimed at customers seeking a chic, easy-to-handle small cabriolet, ideal for sunny cruises.
Beneath its balanced, flowing lines, the Peugeot 304 S Cabriolet borrows the dynamic qualities of the saloon from which it is derived, with reassuring road manners, pleasant comfort and a sufficiently energetic engine for journeys on both roads and country lanes.
Highly regarded by classic Peugeot enthusiasts, this "S" version stands out with its 1. 3L engine developing 75bhp, a more comprehensive finish, and a plush interior presentation.
The example we offer here was registered in May 1972 in France in Pas-de-Calais, as evidenced by a copy of the vehicle’s original first registration document, supplied with the original documentation.
Rare Peugeot 304 S Cabriolet Phase 1 (May 1972), produced in around 1, 200 units. A unique transitional version, combining the classic lines of the early 304 with the 1. 3L twin-carburettor engine of 75 hp. Recognisable by its small rear lights and its grey-dial dashboard.
This Peugeot 304 S Cabriolet has undergone a full restoration on the bodywork, including the refurbishment of sills and floors, treatment and painting of the subframes, as well as a complete repaint. The entire works is documented by a detailed photo and video restoration dossier.
Its 1. 3L engine runs very well, with steady operation and an agreeable exhaust note. It delivers strong pulls and a smoothness suited to recreational driving.
The fuel pump and water pump have been replaced recently, as well as a complete ignition overhaul.
The 4-speed manual gearbox operates very well, with appropriate gearing and precise gear changes.
The suspension and running gear are in good condition, ensuring pleasant road handling.
Braking is effective and balanced, matching the model’s performance.
The original wheels are in very good condition, fitted with chrome hubcaps and Michelin tyres in good used condition.
The bodywork is in excellent condition, the white paintwork has been very well executed and is perfectly bright.
The subframes are also perfectly sound.
All chromes retain a dazzling shine.
The black faux suede upholstery is in very good condition.
The dashboard, steering wheel, door trim and the entire cabin present very well.
Central locking and instrumentation are functional.
The black alpaca-capote is in very good condition, supple and well taut.
The vehicle can be supplied with a white hard-top as an optional extra.
