Ma Youngtimer presents an elegant British convertible: the MG Type B.
Launched in 1962, the MG B was restyled throughout its career. Our example dates from early 1981, at the very end of production. It is a MK4.
Originally from England, right-hand drive, thus preserving its origins. The odometer is in miles and reads 31, 290 miles, just over 50, 000 km, a particularly low mileage. Its owner, who acquired it in 2013, has kept it in good care, occasionally running it to keep the mechanicals in good shape.
Speaking mechanically. Under the hood sits a 1800 cm³ engine developing around 95 horsepower, all present and functioning beautifully. The original Austin inline-four is fed by two SU carburetters. To ensure trouble-free trips, the clutch has just been replaced, as well as the master and slave cylinders. This example is also equipped with overdrive.
Bodywork. The superb yellow shade of this MG is in good condition, although meticulous buyers may spot a few small defects. Its sleek silhouette perfectly captures the spirit of the English convertible. And if you’re not keen on top-down driving, no worry: the hard top is sold with the car. The lines are complemented by gorgeous aluminum Minilite wheels that suit it perfectly.
Regarding rust: a common issue on models coming from England. The chassis of our beauty has been treated and shows no sign of corrosion. The interior has also been well maintained: the seats are in good condition, the brown carpet was replaced in 2014, and the dashboard was fitted with an elegant wood veneer. A comfortable cabin where you’ll feel at home.
Notes: the car is in remarkable condition. However, for the more demanding in terms of driving comfort, the shock absorbers could benefit from a refresh, but this does not affect the driving quality. Note also that the car is on a historic vehicle registration.
