Description
The Aston Martin DB6 Vantage MkII was produced between July 1969 and November 1970. With only 45 Vantage MkII models delivered (including 15 Cabriolet Volante), it is a rare piece in Aston Martin’s heritage.
Powered by a 4. 0 L inline-six with double overhead cams, this Vantage delivers 325 bhp at 5, 750 rpm, thanks to its three Weber 45 DCOE carburettors. The transmission is a 5-speed manual ZF, with Girling servo-assisted brakes on four discs, offering solid performance for the era and a top speed of around 240 km/ h (approximately 149 mph).
The MkII is distinguished by slightly wider wheels (an extra ½ inch) and widened wheel arches, shared with the DBS to accommodate broader tyres, increasing grip and stability. Power steering became standard, and the Borg & Beck clutch was replaced by a 10. 5-inch unit for greater durability. The rear suspension used a Salisbury live axle with Watt’s linkage and adjustable Armstrong Selectaride dampers.
Visually, the DB6 MkII stands out with its bulged fenders, fastback profile and a gracefully streamlined silhouette. The interior benefits from redesigned front and rear seats with stitched pleats reminiscent of the DBS, adding a further touch of sophistication. The cabin blends traditional luxury with careful ergonomics.
With so few produced, our DB6 Vantage MkII is extremely rare, and even more sought after in left-hand drive form (only 9 LHD Vantage Mk2 examples are said to have been built in the factory), making it a highly sought-after model among collectors. Note that our example was right-hand drive and has been converted to left-hand drive.
