Description
The Triumph TR3 was produced from 1955 to 1962 in almost 75, 000 examples. It was marketed as a sports car, a two-seat roadster (though a three-seat version could be had as an option) that aimed to rival the Jaguar XK, MG A, Austin-Healey, Morgan Plus 4, Porsche 356 and others…
Its markets were England but especially the United States in volume.
Over the 7 years of production, there were two evolutions of the TR3 in total (slight aesthetic changes and especially an increase in power). The TR3 A (100 hp), produced from 1957 to 1962, were the most produced (over 58, 000 examples).
The Triumph TR3 would be replaced from 1961 by the Triumph TR4.
NYC’s/ OXOTO is listing here this very nice example of the Triumph TR3 A from May 1959, in white, with a black leather interior and under 38, 000 km on the odometer.
We do not have the full traceability of this Triumph’s history (very likely delivered new to the USA) but we can say that it has belonged to the same Belgian owner for more than 25 years! He has made it reliable and used it a lot for classic rallies. He is not the first Belgian owner as it arrived in Belgium in April 1992 according to information gathered by the Car Pass database. We have also seen that this Triumph was driven in the early 2000s but since 2018 it has been driven infrequently.
The bodywork is very good, with no dents or scratches and no corrosion either.
The hood is also in very good condition; only the rear screen is slightly opaque but it does not require replacement.
The interior is also in very good condition: seats, dashboard, steering wheel, door trims, all are in very good condition.
It has rally-going instrumentation (tripmaster, reading lamp).
Regarding the mechanicals, it starts and runs very well. We do not have a file of maintenance invoices, but up-to-date maintenance and a check-up by a specialist in British cars will be carried out prior to delivery.
Note that we have many parts included in the sale: two original black leather seats, a new fuel pump, towing/ support bracket, two soft-side doors, a rack-and-pinion steering kit, etc…
A ramp is available at our premises to view the underside of the vehicle.
Vehicle viewable by appointment at our Tournai establishment.
