Description
The A presents the Porsche 356 BT5 Roadster 1600 D'Ieteren
Historically, the Porsche 356 was the first sports car manufactured and sold by Porsche. Designed by Ferry Porsche on the mechanical bases of the Volkswagen and drawn by Erwin Komenda, it was produced in series from 1948 to 1965. Technically, it is a monocoque with four-wheel independent suspension and a flat-four engine with rear overhang.
Originally the 356 was available as a coupé and a cabriolet, then at Hoffmann's request, a Speedster version was created as early as 1954… For the 1960 model year, Porsche modernised its 356 with the appearance of the 356 B model like our presented model. Taking over from the mythical Speedster, the Roadster adopts the same formula with the advantages of the 1600 cm3 engine in its S configuration. Among the various coachbuilders who built the Roadster, D’Ieteren is the rarest. Indeed, of the 2900 356 Roadsters built, only 473 were made by D’Ieteren Frères in Belgium.
We present this rarity in one of the most sought-after configurations: elegant, desirable, stately and accompanied by a complete and very detailed history.
Our exemplar will be delivered with a hood cover, tonneau cover, a cover, tool kit, and presentation booklet and manuals.
