Presented in the early 60s, the Jaguar Type E has today become a true automotive icon. Even Enzo Ferrari would have considered it one of the most beautiful cars in the world! It also boasts a genuine racing pedigree (revolutionary aerodynamics for the time), on top of being a luxurious and incredibly beautiful car. All of this contributed to its commercial success (more than 72, 000 Type E were produced) and to being a car in the league of Aston Martin or Ferrari, but cheaper to buy…
The Jaguar Type E replaced the Jaguar XK which built the marque’s reputation in the 50s. It was marketed as a coupé (and 2+2 versions) and a cabriolet, and it would go through three different series if we exclude Series 1. 5 (Series 1 from 1961 to 1967, Series 1. 5 a transitional phase in 1967, Series 2 from 1968 to 1970 and finally Series 3 from 1971 to 1975).
It was replaced in 1975 by the Jaguar XJS.
NYC's/ OXOTO presents for sale this magnificent green Jaguar Type E, beige interior, with under 1, 700 kms on the odometer. Delivered new in 1967 (therefore one of the last Series 1) in the USA (as with many Type E) in New York, it was bought 35 years ago by its current Belgian owner who has (really) spent without counting to make it just PERFECT after a complete and total restoration: EVERYTHING has been renewed! Note that originally it was blue, with a blue interior but its owner preferred to give it the famous “English green”, with a beige interior, the perfect combo.
We have a huge file of the renovation invoices as well as numerous restoration photos (on request).
The bodywork is simply impeccable, no defect to report; no scratch, no dent, no trace of corrosion, it is truly flawless. The chromes, windscreen surround or the hood are free of the slightest defect.
The interior is just as impeccable as the bodywork, absolutely nothing to complain about the condition of the seats, the wooden steering wheel, the dashboard, the central console, the door trim interiors, etc… It’s really a Type E that can be considered concours-condition!
On the mechanical side, nothing is to be expected either, it starts at the push of a button, its stance is straight, no overheating, and its acceleration is optimal.
The last technical inspection report dates from May 2022 (29 kms on the odometer, just after the end of the complete restoration) and mentions no technical remarks about the car.
This Jaguar Type E is in a condition such that it feels like buying a new car, yet 59 years after its first miles on the tarmac!
