Description

The History of the Ferrari 308 GTS When the Ferrari 308 GTS was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1977, it was evident that it wasn’t just another sports car—it was a future classic making its entrance. The 308 GTS combined the traditional virtues of Ferrari with the spirit of the late 1970s. The timelessly elegant design was the work of none other than Leonardo Fioravanti, who, as chief designer at Pininfarina, was already responsible for legends such as the Dino 246 GT and the Daytona (365 GTB/ 4). The lines of the 308 GTS are balanced, sporty and luxurious, with the characteristic wedge shape and the distinctive air intakes behind the doors. The Targa version, with its removable roof panel, added a touch of freedom to the car—without the structural weaknesses of a Cabriolet. Under the flat front hood lay a transverse-mounted 2. 9-litre naturally aspirated V8 with four camshafts in head (quad-cam). In the first version (up to 1980), the engine was fed by four Weber carburettors and produced around 255 hp. Power was transmitted to the rear axle via a precise five-speed manual gearbox—the pure driving pleasure guaranteed. Between 1977 and 1980, exactly 3, 219 units of the carburettor version of the 308 GTS left the production line, with about half exported to the American market. The Ferrari was built at the Scaglietti factory in Modena, which had already built numerous Ferrari bodies. The big pop culture breakthrough came with the American series "Magnum", in which Tom Selleck, aka Thomas Magnum, drove the 308 GTS through the sunlit streets of Hawaii. This image—sporty, charming, a bit rebellious—remains attached to the car today, making it a sought-after collectible. History of the Ferrari 308 GTS - SSC641 The Ferrari 308 GTS offered here has a clear, traceable history. First owner: Pasticceria Palladio in Brescia (Italy), registration BS709715. Sold on 9 June 2000 to Renato B. in Mantua (Italy). Third owner on 13 June 2002: Amalio R. in Ravenna (Italy). On 30 April 2013, sold to Scuderia Sportiva Colonia and exported to Germany. It is still in very good condition. The chassis, brakes, engine and transmission all function perfectly. Our initial diagnosis revealed no maintenance delays. The protection of cavities has recently been renewed. The underbody is immaculate; the Ferrari has only been driven in Germany in proven good weather. The leather interior is original and without cracks or splits. Careful maintenance is also evident here. Currently, this vehicle carries German registration documents, including proof of historic vehicle status. Copies of the Italian vehicle papers are also available.
