Description
The accompanying marketing records show that the Ferrari was supplied new to a 42-year-old stockbroker from Guildford, Surrey, who part-exchanged an Alfa Romeo. First registered on 12 March 1980, the car remained with its first owner until being acquired by Surrey Ferrari specialists, Modena Engineering, who sold it to its second owner on 8 March 1985 by myself!. At that point the odometer recorded 33, 615 miles, and the purchase price was £17, 725, with a Jaguar E-Type accepted in part exchange.
The second owner retained the Ferrari until September 1996, when it passed to a company director. During this long period of ownership the car underwent a comprehensive restoration, including a bare-metal repaint from its original Azzurro Metallizzato to its current Rosso finish by Greenspeed Autostylists of Essex. The interior was retrimmed in black hide with dark red inserts, complemented by new red Wilton wool carpets fitted in June 2007. The seats were subsequently retrimmed by Trimstar of Essex in February 2008, again in black hide with dark red inserts. The exterior colour change was officially recorded with the DVLA on 23 June 2000.
The next owner, a managing director from Norfolk, acquired the car on 29 May 2009 before selling it just six months later to a company director from Suffolk on 11 November 2009. During this ownership the car was maintained by respected Ferrari specialist Grimaldi.
The most recent owner, a golf professional from Cheshire, purchased the Ferrari from renowned marque specialist Nick Cartwright on 17 July 2025. More recently, John Pogson Italia Autosport has undertaken significant refurbishment work, including retrimming the dashboard and centre console, overhauling the front shock absorbers and carrying out further mechanical work totalling just under £20, 000.
Today the car is accompanied by an impressive history file, including its original factory wallet, service book, owner's handbook, original tool kit, numerous invoices and a substantial collection of historic MOT certificates. As an early 1980 model, it also benefits from desirable period details including hydraulic engine cover struts and the correct cigar lighter rather than the later cigarette lighter. In a pleasingly rare touch, the notoriously fragile clock adjuster remains intact.
