Description
Hello,
L’atelier des 1000 is pleased to present for sale one of the grails for Stuttgart firm aficionados: this 911 2. 0 S SWB was delivered new to the famous singer Sacha Distel on 29/ 08/ 1968 by Sonauto
The 911 S stands as the first series-produced sporting 911; its aluminium engine develops 30 hp more than the standard version to reach 160 hp, and various chassis upgrades allow it to hit 225 km/ h and 0-100 km/ h in 7. 4 seconds.
Today, it continues to captivate with its lines of rare elegance and its playful handling on the road.
The vehicle we are offering is one of the last short-wheelbase chassis to leave the 1, 492 units produced that year and has a substantial invoice history since 1991 detailing all work carried out.
The bodywork received significant sheet-metal work and a full repaint in its original Polo Red colour 10 years ago; the alignments are to standard and the overall condition is obviously free from corrosion. The body seals were replaced on that occasion.
The chromes are in good condition and gleam brilliantly.
The upholstery underwent a complete restoration in 1993 and is in very good, uniform condition, displaying a light patina to which we are not indifferent.
The headlining is in perfect condition.
The entire roof system was replaced at the start of the year.
The original leather‑covered steering wheel has been particularly well preserved as well.
The instruments are period correct and fully functional.
The engine is healthy and speaks in the muffled melody typical of the marque’s flat‑6. It was rebuilt to standard specification by Jean Buser in 1991, then overhauled in 2000 with notably the replacement of cylinders and pistons, complete reworking of the cylinder heads, replacement of the oil pump and oil cooler, as well as bearing shells and crankshaft bearings.
The engine was revised in 2012 for partial sealing.
Following its body restoration in 2016, the Le Mans Porsche centre handled refitting the mechanicals and a full service.
The IDS carburettors have been recently reviewed and their tuning is entirely satisfactory.
The gearbox was rebuilt in 2016; gear engagement is smooth and the clutch shows no wear.
The exhaust dating from 2016 as well and in good condition.
Various electrical works have been recently carried out such as replacement of the distributor, regulator, power window motor and fuel pump.
All running gear behaves well and the steering has no abnormal play.
Bilstein shock absorbers were replaced in 2021 and perform their job properly.
Regarding braking, it was renewed in 2020; the master cylinder was replaced at the end of 2022; overall it is efficient and balanced.
The Fuchs wheels are shod with P6000 tyres in perfect condition.
